Richard Hammond given boost in new career move amid split from wife of 28 years
Richard Hammond is set to return to screens following the split from his wife of 28 years, Mindy.
The 55-year-old presenter wrapped up work with fellow Grand Tour presenters Jeremy Clarkson and James May late last year.
The final episode, One for the Road, concluded their eight years with the Amazon series and ultimately, what the trio first began on BBC Top Gear in 2003.
Recently, Amazon announced they will reunite for four retrospective episodes of The Grand Tour, which will reflect on the series’ best moments.

However, Hammond is now set to strike out on his own once again as his tinkering show, Richard Hammond’s Workshop, has been renewed for a fifth series on Discovery+.
It follows Hammond as he repairs and restores classic cars through his restoration company, The Smallest Cog.
The Smallest Cog was established in 2021, coinciding with the launch of the first series of the show.
A source told The Sun: “Richard Hammond’s Workshop has been a huge success for Discovery+’s streaming service and is one of their biggest factual titles.
“Another eight episodes have been ordered by bosses and Richard is delighted to be able to throw himself back into filming.
“Fans can expect to see the fifth series later in October,” they added.
Along with the Hammond, the show also features father and son team Neil and Anthony Greenhouse, who help run the garage.
Hammond’s daughter Izzy will continue to feature in the fifth series of the show. She plays a key role in bringing her father and the business into the digital age.
Updating fans on X, Hammond wrote earlier this year: “A little update from us; this Christmas we were together as a family and this year we will still be a family but just structured a bit differently.
“Our marriage is coming to end, but we’ve had an amazing 28 years together and two incredible daughters. We will always be in each other’s lives and are proud of the family we created,” he continued.
The 55-year-old rounded off the statement by adding: “We won’t be commenting further and sincerely hope our privacy and that of our children will be respected at this time. With Love, Richard and Mindy.”
Hammond has continued to appear on the YouTube channel DriveTribe, which he co-owns with Clarkson and May, with regular appearances from daughter Izzy.
He also recently took a nostalgic tour around the old Top Gear production offices with May.
