Chesney Hawkes breaks silence on ITV CBB stint as he issues eight-word response when grilled on rumours
Pop icon Chesney Hawkes remained tight-lipped about his rumoured Celebrity Big Brother appearance during his BBC Breakfast interview earlier today.
The “One And Only” hitmaker appeared on the morning show to discuss his new album, Living Arrows, and upcoming tour dates.
However, hosts Charlie Stayt and Nina Warhurst seemed more interested in pressing him about speculation he will be entering the Celebrity Big Brother house next week.
The 53-year-old singer faced direct questioning about the rumours but offered only cryptic responses that neither confirmed nor denied his participation in the reality show.
The exchange quickly became a playful cat-and-mouse game as the presenters attempted to extract information from their guest, Stayt asked directly: “Rumour has it, Chesney, that you’re going in Celebrity Big Brother. Is that true or not?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Hawkes responded coolly, before the presenter probed: “So, that’s a yes?”

“I don’t know where you got that from,” the singer retorted, playing it off and moving on from the topic.
Warhurst then joined the interrogation, asking what pre-show rituals he might undertake if he were entering the house on Monday.
“Probably sleeping if I was to do that,” Hawkes quipped, before turning the tables by asking Stayt if he would be participating in the show.
“I’m not doing it, I can categorically say I’m not,” Charlie declared, leaving Warhurst to respond: “So can I; but you can’t though.”
Stayt then attempted to pin down Hawkes’ whereabouts for next Tuesday, the day after the show’s launch, to which he hesitantly replied: “Let me think about this, uh well.”
“You’ve got a clear couple of weeks, maybe?” Charlie probed further, leaving the singer to laugh: “Yeah, I’m just going to rest in… sitting on the couch at home.”
The presenters were impressed by his ability to maintain composure under questioning, as Stayt applauded: “You’re holding the line very well if I may say.”
Warhurst added with a smile: “Your face hasn’t changed, I bet you’re very good at poker.”
This isn’t the first time Hawkes has faced questions about the rumours, as during a previous Radio X interview with Chris Moyles, he similarly dodged confirmation, saying: “We’ll have to wait and see, won’t we?”
Celebrity Big Brother returns to screens on Monday, April 7 at 9pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player, with this year’s line-up being met with mixed reviews.
The new series will be hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best, with the official line-up to be revealed on launch night.
Other rumoured contestants joining Hawkes include Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke, soap stars Jack P Shepherd and Patsy Palmer, dancer JoJo Siwa, and TV personalities Trisha Goddard and Chris Hughes.
