Rippon has enjoyed a storied career in British broadcasting, most memorably appearing in the 1976 Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show.

Initially appearing behind a BBC newsdesk, the 80-year-old surprised viewers by emerging to perform a high-kicking dance routine.

The segment proved so popular that she returned for a cameo in the following year’s Christmas special, revealed as part of a chorus line.

She later became known to a generation of viewers as the presenter of the long-running dance competition show Come Dancing.

In 2023, Rippon made history by participating in the twenty-first series of Strictly Come Dancing.

At 79-years-old, she became the oldest contestant ever to compete in the show’s history.

This remarkable achievement came more than three decades after she hosted the original version of the programme, Come Dancing.

Rippon returns to GB News Breakfast at 6am tomorrow alongside Stephen Dixon.
